Gudrun Erla of GE Designs

Gudrun Erla, founder and designer of GE Designs, was born and raised in Iceland, where her love for quilting began at the age of 23. Starting from her home country, she built a thriving career designing quilt patterns and running quilt shops, eventually moving to Minnesota in 2003 to pursue her designing passion full-time. For over two decades, Gudrun has been inspiring quilters worldwide with her innovative yet approachable designs. She blends traditional quilting techniques with a modern twist, making her patterns and books accessible for today’s makers. As the creator of the best-selling Stripology rulers, Gudrun has revolutionized how quilters cut and piece fabrics, saving time and ensuring precision. Her latest collection, Heima, is a heartfelt celebration of her Icelandic roots. “Heima,” meaning “home” in Icelandic, embodies the warmth and comfort of home through its timeless patterns and versatile designs. Find Gudrun’s patterns, tools, and fabrics on the GE Designs website at www.gequiltdesigns.com, and follow her quilting journey on YouTube and Facebook every week, where she shares her passion for quilting with a global community.
